Poem Artwork

Crowded grocery store
People rushing by
Hoping they don't see
A grown woman cry
I still see his face
Engraved in my mind
After all these years
Peace is hard to find

Panic consumes me
I'm drawn into the past
Crying on bloodstained sheets
Heart beating fast
Teddy bear falls to the floor
A six year old can't fight
My screams of pain went unheard
Swallowed by the night

The shadows simply watched
Innocence ripped away
As my teddy bear slept
And night turned into day
Cigar smoke filled the room
I can't forget the smell
As I lay on crumpled sheets
In my own private hell

Crowded grocery store
But I feel so alone
Except for the feel of his hands
And the stench of cheap cologne

Powerful imagery invoked in this write. I've been listening to the song 'Hell is for Children' by Pat Benatar lately and this poem brought much the same emotion into my mind when I read it.

Extremely diffcult to pen,,, I know, but you penned it perfectly. And though you may feel alone, you are not! The tears and pain, the fears and udying memories are shared by so many little girls. Me being one. you expressed this horrible reality so well. For the sake of a justice we must wait for til God's hand wields it, please keep writing! Bless You for your strength!

Innocents lost and pain like scars unhealed...
This is a very powerful reflection of how cruel life can be...
You have expressed the pain well...

Stark reality of horror and truth expressed in these verses, Linda. Incredibly. I'm listening to J.D. Sumner and the Stamps' "Hold On To God's Unchanging Hand." Quite a coincidence I think. I send you love and peace. Regis (P.S. I only met J.D. Sumner's music very recently through my association with a chorus that I joined. The director is an angel.)

Linda, your writing continues to strongly show that horrible memory in which many continue to live. This is powerful in every sense of the word. Well done.

I had to get my second marriage annulled as she could never come to terms from being abused from 6.

Well spoken. It messes them up for life, and other lives they can get a kick out of doing real bad stuff to others, not realising the hurt they cause, whilst they go into denial..

Hi Linda. I share her tears, for her fears and memories are also my own.
You write as if you are feeling the pain, and convey your message well.
I love your pages, I will read more.
