This is in memory of Betty Farnsworth who passed away August 28, 2004. I wrote this on request by her son and my dear, dear friend Ross Ostrander. He read this poem at her funeral with tears in his eyes and love in his heart for his Mom. Ross, this is for you and your loving Mom....
I will not say goodbye, Mom
For you are still with me
You live in my heart
And in all my memories
You raised four children
By sacrifice and love
Your the kind of Mom
We are so proud of
Everyone loved your cooking
You were the best
You treated everyone as family
Not as just a guest
You never met a stranger, Mom
You were a friend to all
Ready to lend a helping hand
No matter who would call
I can still see you Mom
Watching the Sunday football game
Somehow watching it now
Will never be the same
I'm trying to be strong, Mom
I'm trying to hold on
Because deep in my heart
You're not really gone
You instilled in us compassion
And to work hard in this life
You kept your sense of humor
Through hard times and strife
Rest in God's loving arms
You worked hard on this Earth
Mom, I realize now
Just how much you are worth

You have been a god send to me over the last 3 years and since mother's death. When we discussed a poem that I could read at her funeral, I never thought you would have time to write such a beautiful and touching tribute for a person that you had never even met. Only you could write something so beautiful. I owe you my life for doing this for me my dear dear friend, and I thank you SO much as does my whole family. Please know one thing, I know that my mother is also pleased with this poem, even though she is no longer with us. My sweet friend, I will love you forever and will cherish this poem forever...Ross xoxoxo
I recently lost my mother - and I could not have written a better poem then yours to express my feelings during times of sadness. Beautiful and touching write.
