This is dedicated to TRASK who encouraged me to come back to the den and pick up my pen and WRITE. Thank you TRASK for giving me that nudge to write this poem. You are indeed a true friend.

Poem Artwork

The earth so hard and cold
As they lower her in the ground
As we watch the tiny coffin
No one makes a sound
Is it guilt that we feel
As we slowly bow our head
That we didn't help this child
We turned our backs instead

Lord, accept this little one
As she comes into your fold
If she seems afraid, dear Lord
Give her Your hand to hold
May the angels gather 'round her
Gentle voices softly cry
As their harmony from Heaven
Sings and angels lullabye...

We passed her house many times
The shadows echoed her pain
Not willing to get involved
What would we have to gain
Beaten by her father
As the world went on its way
We went to our meetings
While her life's blood seeped away

Lord, accept this little one
As she comes into your fold
If she seems afraid, dear Lord
Give her Your hand to hold
May the angels gather 'round her
Gentle voices softly cry
As their harmony from Heaven
Sings and angels lullabye...

This is soooo heartfelt. I'm glad the ordeal is over for the little Angel, and she can now rest in peace.

Linda, this was astonishing. I am a childrens advocate because I was severly abused, almost did not make it out alive. I have a poem in my den about child abuse. If you get a chance go see it. It is called child abuse, we will no longer tolerate it anymore. I am deeply sorrowed for the child in your poem..You seem like an angel..God bless you Linda..

Welcome back to the Den
You have been sorely missed !
And I am glad that Trask encouraged you to come back to the Den...
And all it takes for evil to flourish, is for good men to look away on the other side of the road...
Excellent and poignant pen

Painfully sweet write Linda and though it fills me with hatred for the monsters that do these heinous crimes to innocent children, it gives me at least a sense that somone will love them completely one day. As a father and grandfather of girls it breaks my heart though to think anyone could be that mean.
