We had a major snow storm in my area this weekend, thus this poem. There are many homeless in my area and yours. By the grace of God go I?
Wrapped in a dirty blanket
I found on the floor
How much longer can I hang on
Can't feel my feet anymore
The wind blows the snow
Through a broken window pane
As a far away whistle blows
From a distant train
This old abandoned house
Is all that I could find
To keep me from the cold
And the stares of mankind

My stomach growls in hunger
As the shadows play
I've got to find the strength
To make it through another day

Nice write! Very descriptive of one of this nation's saddest and growing problem ... homelessness. Makes one think what brought this poor old man to this state of affair.
Dear Linda, this is a very sad reality. I can only pray and draw hope and joy from the belief that when God gives extraordinary trials, He gives extraordinary comfort. An honestly meaningful piece.

while complaining about a few mouth sores.

and helped the old man? If so, please
let me know.
Touches the heart Linda as I once said we can't take care of the world but we can help, carry a pack of coffee cupons, offer to buy a meal, share your blankets, hats and mitts to those in need. Great write.

Linda, I help feed some 800 Families every month, 1000 from November to January. The numbers always increase around the holidays. My friends and I go out regardless of the weather, more then once our clothing has been frozen on us. Why? because people need to care. I have a nice two story home on 100 acres of land a more then three meals a day if I desire, but I understand that I could be homeless tomarrow and this is why I care. "Do unto others, as you would have done unto you." Anyone, big or small can fall, and this is why we should all care. Thank you for this!
Linda this poem is so sad and profound very well writen. Last year I spent the better part of July 4th 2009 feeding veterans & homeless people. We had two grills and fed nearly 400 people. Also gave them the Word, books, and clothing. But most of all we shared their pain, heartaxhes, and huged them. God bless you my sister.Peace!!!
