This is a tribute to my brother Jimmy. Today is the 3rd anniversary of his death. I miss and love him so much....

Poem Artwork

A pile of brittle dry leaves
Was often your bed
No soft downy pillow
To gently lay your head
Such a sad way to live
It was my brothers fate
I didn't find out
Till it was much too late

Your meals from a dumpster
You suffered alone
While you struggled in life
Your dreams had gone
No walls to protect you
From Winter's cold wind
Just bittersweet memories
Of what could have been

It hurts so much
That you were living this way
We'd somehow lost touch
As the years slipped away
A tired, homeless man
With no where to go
I'm so sorry, dear brother
But I didn't know....

My heart goes out to you Linda and your brother. I was homeless years ago in the 70's, unlike your brother I survived. Thanks be to God! To be hungry, homeless and alone is a horrible situation to be in. Because of that situation for the past 24 years I have been feeding the Veterans and homeless people on the Fourth of July in the park. We usually feed about 400 people mostly Veterans. This year other organizations joined in so we fed around 200 people. We heat up the grills and feed them a full course hot meal like you would feed your family. Your brother reminds me of the story of Lazarus in the Bible and God has Jimmy in His arms. Peace!!!

This is so beautifully written. I felt your hurt in every word. He's with The Lord now and watching over you. Thank you for sharing such deep felt thoughts in such a beautiful poetic way. This really toughed my heart. God Bless

Dearest Linda,
I have a good friend who just lost her brother.
Your poem has inspired her to write a tribute in his honor.
So you provided someone with inspiration and that's what matters now.
It's so sad that we sometimes know so little about a loved one or a friend.
You were a good sister because you cared right up until the very end.
God knows your heart Linda; it's not your fault that you did not know.
My own daughter told me yesterday her pride kept her from telling me she was just one day away from being on the street.
We just don't know sometimes we can't be all things for all people and be everywhere all at once..
We try our best to help out and God knows how much we really care.

Peace, Love and Multiple Blessings in Christ,

John Michael Domino

A touching tribute..homelessness has it's own issues..but when a loved one suffers because it..the issues become real & true..
