In this vast world we live in Will we ever know Is it fate or destiny That holds us in its flow Do the stars tell us how to act Control the way we feel Are we just puppets on a string Not realizing what is real In this vast world we live in Will we ever know The mysteries of life and death Are what they will bestow Is there a Heaven and a Hell Are do we create our own If life comes with instructions Why aren't we ever shown In this vast world we live in Will we ever know The magic of the universe Or how the stars glow Are the chapters of our lives Already written down Is there nothing we can do To turn it all around Does happiness and pain Lay in our own hand Is life of our own making Help me to understand � Linda Hill 2003

"Does happiness and pain lay in our own hand." This is a fraction and percentage question Linda. Life has its plans for us and we have our plans for ourselves. I won't quote a fraction to you but I will say this, I plan to have my happiness in my own hands as long as possible, that is until life throws me a devastating blow that really knocks me off track. My happiness doesn't come from everything going right, it comes from my fight. The fight I put up to overcome, adapt and improvise my life. In other words, I'm happy because I can deal effectively and keep myself out of trouble regardless of the circumstances. You poem was great to me, poetically and in meaning. GE
