Here's a story for the children...or the grow-ups with a child in their heart...like me........giggle

Poem Artwork

With seagulls soaring wild and free,
Whimsy danced upon the sea!
Salty breeze in her golden hair,
Frolicking along without a care!
Scanning the beach every single day,
She searched for a place for us to play.
Her emerald eyes would shine with glee
Whenever Whimsy spotted me.
Kindred spirits were she and I,
Let me tell you the reason why.
I’m a grown-up, but a child at heart
Have always been right from the start!
Whimsy was a friend of mine
And a better friend I couldn’t find!
Whenever I walked beside the sea,
Whimsy came along with me.
She’s a mermaid; that’s a fact,
And her and I made a solemn pact!
I’d be her friend throughout the years,
And she would bring me mermaid’s tears!
Little gems that come from the sea
She’d hide them in the sand for me.
Coloured glass in rainbow hews,
Mine to keep, how could I lose?
It was just like hunting for buried treasure,
And finding them was joy beyond measure!
Whimsy sang her mermaids songs
As her and I trod happily along,
Friends forever, til the end,
There’s nothing like a mermaid friend!
But time caught up with us one day,
I became too old to run and play.
To the sea I went no more,
To walk along the ocean floor,
But I hear her singing now and then,
My enchanting little mermaid friend!
Perhaps if you go down to the sea,
You will find a friend like me!
And if your imagination is right,
Meet sweet Whimsy, you just might!

What a great poem. Childhood memories should be something to hold onto, although I have tried to block most of mine. Thank you for such a beautiful writing. May God bless you every day of your life.

Adorable! Whimsey and I parted company many moons ago, but I still can hear her laughter sometimes at night when everything is still and quite. Very nicely done!

Sometimes, no matter our age, Annabel, sometimes is's nice to just "let your hair down" and be damned with the world, sometimes, Annabel, it's really nice to just be me. I'm seventy-six now and still hasve my moments of whimsey. Very well written, my friend.
