Bonnie's right. Richness or wealth isn't always a coin or a treasury note. It comes in many guises! The Scripture says who to put first, and the rest will follow. (I'm waiting for the rest to follow, but, slowly, it seems to be doing so.) You're on the right track kiddo.

I'd be quite happy to sell one book each and every day...

But famous would be so much better!

I have three books published, and have not yet been blessed with fame, but perhaps it is not a blessing after all, I have had doors open to meet some amazing people though, and I treasure friendship deeper than I treasure dollars, even got an email from Danielle Steel about a year ago that was really encouraging

My sister and brother and I published a book this summer to benefit Haiti...We raised some money and I am thrilled about that, but we still have books to sell. Sadly...only two people from AD bought the book, although many promised to buy it. To me... it wasn't really about the book, but rather about raising much needed funds for my dear friends who so courageously try to care for 250 children in desperate times in Haiti. :~(

I entered a contest once with another poet. We each "read" our work in the room, and there were 3 judges that judged each poem that we each "read". The room was full of people that I didn"t know. (I was new to the internet and new to poetry reading rooms too.) After each poem the other people in the room would comment on the work that was read. they were all very nice comments from those that liked the works and nothing said from those that didn"t.(no one is allowed to say bad things to another but can refrain from comment if they chose.) Well, I lost. the poet I was up against was alot better than I was and at first I felt a bit sad. then a man/poet that I think highly about imd me and congratulated me on my fine work. I told him that I had lost. He said that I hadn't lost. I asked him what he meant. This is what he told me:::: "If you submitted your best work and you are pleased with the work you did than you haven't lost." He explained to me that as long as we feel we are doing the best we can and picked out the best work we have to be read, than we have done our job and should be proud of ouselves for what we achieved. I thanked him and to this day always remember what he was kind enough to take the time to tell me. Don't let anyone ever tell you that you ae not good enough. As long as you feel you are doing your best than you should be happy with your work.

Ahhhh Linda I think the fame comes in the knowledge that we and we alone have captured our own immortality on paper for generations that will follow us. It is not about the money for we would definately starve.

Hi Linda,I love reading this poem and I especially love the way you express the fustration and hustle of being a writer.Most of the best sellers are celebrities which is true.My poetry book has been out for over a year and I haven't gotten one cent.Trust me Linda,its very hard to sell a book.I've done everything from putting up flyers,to hiring a publicist and everything.I even wrote to Oprah about adding my poetry book in her book club and signed up to be a special weather forecaster for a local mornings news show in my area.I've gotten nothing.It would be nice to get paid for my book and have sales increase,but I am not going to hang my head low.There are a few good things that I've accomplished since my book was out.I've received 2 good reviews of my book from 2 book critics,my book is in 2 bookstores right now and even though I've already send in copies of my book in the middle of the year into a bookstore and no one has buy a copy of them yet,I went back to that bookstore and have them put up copies of my book again.The most important accomplishment that you or anybody else in the Den has made is publishing a book.People can take years and years just to have their book published,but with the use of websites like Lulu.com,iuniverse.com,outskirtspress,com,our publishing dreams have come true and that is something that no one will ever take.I know you are proud of your book and what you have accomplish.Don't let anybody belittle what you have created.I can honestly say that even though my dad and granny are glad that my book was published,they are disappointed because I haven't gotten paid which is alright.I would love to get paid just like you,but I'm not going to let them belittle my accomplishments.The money will come somehow.We just have to stay optimistic that's all.I want to wish you all the success and best in the world for your book.We are all bless to have this amazing talent and at the end,we will get rewarded for it one way or the other.take care

Always just be happy with the person that you are, the rest somehow falls into place that is, if it is meant to be, nice honest writing...

Absolutely fantastic! There is no hidden message between your verses, more like--in your face this is how I feel. You are indeed an amazing character here at the Den and I am more than pleased to know you. I am a philanthropist "in training" the only thing that is holding me back is money! I know my book will help many people, all we need are sales.

I guess we all have this feelings. I think I'm the only one who really love and admire my own work. Oh, but I don't envy the famous and the best sellers, because some of them don't even write the books by themselves. Others have written for them!

At least, I write my own books, paint my own pictures, and I'm proud of what I do!!!
