Child abuse is rampant everywhere and we must do more about it than we are doing now.

Tommy’s Dream©

By Kathy Lynn

 .

Tommy has a dream

That he prays for each night

As by his bed he kneels

With his hands clasped tight

 .

He wants to be able to play

With all the other kids outside

When he comes home from school

Instead of crawling under his bed to hide

.

His dad will come home drunk

And start to yell

About the house and food

His mom will tell him to go to hell

 .

This happens every night

There is no peace in his life

He is so very young

To suffer such strife

 .

Tommy doesn’t ask for much

He has a simple dream

He wants his mom and dad

Not to always scream

 .

Simple little dream you say

But a very big one for him

Because they never stop screaming

Each day it begins over again

 .

Then they take their anger out on him

So he shakes with fear

Runs to his room

And says his prayer

 .

Crawls into bed without supper again

Because they are too drunk to care

Whether he eats or not

It is as if he isn’t there

 .

In the morning when he wakes

Quietly he grabs some toast

Running to catch the school bus

The place he loves the most

 .

It is safe there for a few hours

He can forget his home life

Being scared and alone

Full of fear and strife

Heart wrenching words that describe a situation experienced by so many innocent children...
There needs to be a better way of helping these poor children...I hope things have improved in your country since your words were written in 2008...it is still a massive problem here in UK...
Hugs,
Diana...

I totally agree as many WITH a HEART would, WE MUST do more! to help the innocent hearts mend and not be able to feel that HURT and PAIN!
Tears are still falling from my eyes, seeing Tommy/etc. hurting, wanting to rely on a GOOD mommy or daddy! and just can't! His strenth must come from within, I felt this child was telling a teacher as a CHILD should! and I hope MORE dO, to get away from the pain they keep experiencing! IT just is NOT fair, for children to live this/that way! My heart goes out to all the Tommy's in the world, that someone near them will see and bring a better life to them!
Much love and Blessings! Hugs, WArrior Lady Purple SHEExooo

STay Positive!
Namaste!!!
P.S. This tears my soul, I know these feelings too clearly - and others have it worse! The SECRETS NEED to be known! to get results!

Yes Kathleen, too many little innocent children are going through this day in and day out. I've seen what this abuse can do first hand. There has to be a better way to rid this problem. Thank you for sharing.

Heartbreaking, Kathy Lynn. What a sad statement about our so-called "evolved" society that such situations continue to be "part and parcel" in this world. I send you love, hugs, and my best thoughts,

This is stark but so is the subject matter...all too many children wake up to a life like this every morning and still we fail to recognize it or do anything about it. Society has to start spending as much funds and energy on these problems as we do on warfare and the sooner the better. I know you speak from experinece here and your heart is in this one.
