Too many people miss out on enjoyment

 Precious Moments

.
Throughout our lives there is so much time

Spent on working and managing our affairs

That not enough time is spent for ourselves

Nor time spent with all that we know care

.
How foolish we all are in our haste to succeed

Hurrying through our days and weeks

Worrying about silly and unimportant things

Never talking a few moments to just relax and read

.
Warm summer day spent with a book in hand

Words that can take us anywhere

Dreams of love and mystery at our fingertips

Poets and writers are so willing to share

 .
A whole universe within our grasp

Just waiting for us to open and discover

Take the time to open and read these adventures

Waiting for us there under their covers

 .
A feeling of peace and contentment

Enters your inner being

With a book in your hand

Your mind on a dream

With a book in hand,
just by reading it,
we could find comfort and peace!

YES! I AGREE, KATHLEEN. I DON'T READ SO MUCH LATELY, BUSY DOING OTHER THINGS. I USED TO GO OUT DAILY AND I ALWAYS READ WHILE TRAVELING ON THE BUS AND TRAIN BUT I HAVEN'T READ SINCE. THANKS FOR THIS REMINDER. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Everything you say here is so true; however, when I was younger, I had the desire to read but couldn't find the time because of a tight schedule as a teacher and raising a family. Then, once I retired, I now have the time but find it difficult to stay awake and seem to have far less time getting things done like I once could.

Indeed, Poetry and lit are medicine for the turbulent soul; water for the thirsty imagination.

Quality poem.

I loved reading as a child and letting my imagination carry me where the stories took me. We seem to lose that sense of magic as we grow into adults with all the cares of this life that growing up brings. Love and best wishes,

Wise thoughts in a busy world. I would add to that real-life experience encountering new experiences in person having nothing to do with personal maintenance except to give that breath of fresh air that travel and opening up to others unlike ourselves can do.

Indeed there is "a whole universe within our grasp" KLM. Books are the only 'things' that I collect. Have done so since I was a teenager. You sound better and more focused since 'Lost'. Love that image. Enjoyed your thoughts. Peace... r

Ahhh . . . I fell in love with the written words in novel form when I was a very young lad. The Perry Mason books is the first readings I can recall, but branched out to many different kinds of novels. I have been reading ever since on a daily basis.

Books have taken me to so many places, time periods, and personalities. Books have "taken me away" from stress and worry. You are so "right on" with this poem. Marvelous!

Love ya!

And how nice when the words are comforting and a joy to read, as are yours. Warm and cozy like a friend.

The joys of reading are there to be experienced, just as the joys are writing are there to be laid bare for all to read. Thank you for sharing your insights. John
