On this Memorial Day and every day, let us never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice that we may know freedom
The Price For Freedom
They stand before a humble grave
All that he had, this soldier gave
In a fight for freedom that cost his life
Leaving behind his son and his wife
The young man in uniform kneels to pray
His tears of loss flow free today
For his father whom he never knew
Lost in battle 'fore he had turned two
This soldier’s son, now staunch he stands
Holding tightly to his mother’s hands
His father’s spirit still lives inside
These two he left, on that day he died
Stepping back, he dries his tears
After clinging to memories for so many years
He’s proud to be this soldier’s son
Whose blood was shed for freedom won
He stands to face his father’s grave
Both proud and sad for the life he gave
Steps back, salutes, says one more prayer
For the honor and freedom he left them to share
WOW!! Sherry, this is an awesome write... Such a very touching tribute..
