' . . . values itself in relation to idle minds.'

Poem Artwork

Fixed shadow like a band saw

Has an obligation to change

what’s put through it – values

itself in relation to idle minds.

Solutions provided by theory

It is never denied – parameters

set, forms an unpromised land

It’s effectiveness is obtrusive.

Measures your life sorrow’s

with the same precision as

the band saw cuts – relates

it’s velocity to your non-wishes.

The Shadow then imprints

an idea in your clouded mind

Causes the realm of your

inner secrecy to enter its’ domain.

It has you now – will begin to

hollow out your inner soul

then begin on your brain; it

accelerates the procedure.

You will gravitate toward it’s

pull – just as a piece of wood

does towards the band saw’s

sharp and jagged blade.

Your day quickly becomes night

The hastened fence that you try

to erect against The Shadow has

holes in it – left unguarded.

You are sacrificing all your essentials

Doomed like a listing ship – your inner

voice is crying as you leap into its’

darkened abyss; tears guide the way.

Three fingers up in succession: one for

sorrow; one for self-pity; the dying one

for silence surmised – the impatience

endured is un-godlike.

You’re now walking the beaten path of

sorrow – was often remembered as

emotional strife; it encloses around you

The Shadow has succeeded once again.

Lance,
Power and depth here, a thorough exploration of inner self with all the doubts and fears interlaced; the band saw metaphor quite striking and highly relevant.
