Suicide's Victims


At Dawn,
We came looking for you,
Searching for you in the falling mist,
Trying to follow trails,
Hours old...

I saw the bent leaves,
And your imprints in the earth,
You were running,
And my heart fell,
Thinking,
Why are you running from us?

We ran too,
Trying to reach you,
Fearing what you would do...

I nearly cried when we lost your trail,
Fearing we would be too late,
But then I heard you crying,
And followed that heart-wrenching cry,
Until it led me to you...

How lost you looked!
Sitting there,
Thinking no one cared!
Look around you!
See us gathering around you,
Tears flowing down our faces,

Don't you know how much you are loved?

The world weeps for her lost children,
Gathers them under her wide protective skirt,
She shades you love from summer's heat,
And washes your soul in the spring rain!

Don't you hear her calling your name?
Can't you feel her strength and love,
Flowing into your soul?

Look how much you were loved!
We are gathered here to welcome you home,
Ran until our chest burned,
And our legs gave out,

And still we ran on!
Look at us!
We love you!
Can all the pain in your heart,
Equal the pain inside us,
When we call your name aloud,
And you do not answer?

This is so wonderful. As one who has attempted suicide and has lost a Mother to suicide, you don't know how much I appreciate this. I know how much I am loved now, but I didn't know then. I know this poem will help someone.

Reindeer, this is so sad. It hit me harder than I hoped, dug especially deep into my heart. Even now I can recite these very words to a departed soul who was very close to me. Thank you for sharing this poem.

Suicide victims are at a point of emotional and spiritual desolation. They can't see, or feel any more. They only want to end the suffering. Thank you for this very sensitive composition.

This is excellent.

This is hard to know if some of the dear ones did kill themselves. Sometimes they are going through lot of pains. But there are people who love them too. Do they think of them when then think of such an action. Does this action means BAD IS VICTOROUS OVER GOOD. Both good and bad live in this world. a person is cared by both good and bad and when bad overcome the good the person feel to do those things which he/she is not supposed to do. Suicide is that ultimatum of what a person can think of. wish those who think of such an action atleast think of the last person in the world who care them and who need their presence.

Thanks for this lovely write once more ....

i nearly joined them right after my mom died 14 years ago, but thank GOD i didn't; He had His Hand on me at the time (but didn't know it then!). Such a waste when people inadvertantly kill themselves! They could have had long, fulfilling lives if they weren't so wrapped up in their troubles...such a tragedy!
