One thoughtless cloudy day,
My love asked something too much of me,
He is curious always of every nuance of life and love,
And asked me how I knew I loved him…
Some questions are better left unanswered.

How I know I Love You…

Ah, my love,
you ask much of me-
When I think of you all day,
When I think I only want to be home,
Or hearing your voice on the phone,
When I dream of you and smell you,
On my pillow or my clothes-
And wish we were together doing simple things;
Eating, showering, walking the paths of my forest,
Sitting together watching the sunset or moon rise-

When I am somewhere,
Where I should be happy and at peace,
But I am not;
because you are not there-

When I look up at the sky,
And see a beautiful cloud floating gently by,
or bird with bright colored wings,
or tree that is swaying,
And whispering softly in the morning breeze,
or lake that is shimmering with rising fog,
And wish I could share it with you,
But I can’t because you are not here with me…

When I am so sad and my world is crashing,
Around me at my feet;
I cannot share it with you,
I cannot bear to bring you down into my despair-

When I want to hug you so tightly,
And tell you how much I love you,
But I cannot utter a single word,
Because I know you will break my heart
And I wonder how I shall live,
How will I do anything,
With out you by my side…

When I cannot bear to talk to you
Because I cannot bear it to be the last time,
When I wish it was real and here and now
And not some fantasy we both dream of-

When I wish I had never met you,
so I will never know the emptiness you will cause
when you are gone…

That is how I know I love you,
He whispered softly,
With the sorrow we both share;

”Yeah, I understand…”

PERFECTION! I just wouldn't know where to start with this one, but you have perfectly encompassed it with universal truth that must strike a chord in each one of us. So bittersweet, Retta; both sides of the coin brilliantly evoked! Bet there's not a dry eye in the house on reading this! You have such a gift for expressing almost inexpressible feelings. Bless you and your empathy. LOL Kate xx
