Shadowed Hearts

Shadows in my world,
Surrounding us,
Reminding me,
I am not free,
As you are not,
Will never be,

It's all so funny,
Like some tragic movie,
We both have our solemn duty,
to keep us from seeing beauty...

How dark it is here without you,
How very lonely and oh so sad,
How much I wish our love,
Did not make us feel so bad…

Feeling sorrow,
Despite your love for me,
Wishing you could see,
My shadows protect me,
But what about you?
What will you do,
When we are through?

I know the truth you see,
About you and me,
We will not always be,
One day,
I must set you free...

And the shadows,
Will come back,
And keep me well,
Though only time will tell-

If I can find a way,
To spend each day,
Remembering all the things
We use to do,
Remembering how much,
I loved you...

Keeping those shadows,
Safe in my heart,
Until the day we must part,
Then they will come out again,
Keeping the memory of you,
Safe forever my friend...
