Beware the Winter Solstice
Now winter’s a-comin’
And I’m sittin’ here hummin’
A tune that’s kinda catchy
‘Bout the days ahead
That we love to dread
When the weather gets cold and patchy.
As the days grow colder
And the winds blow bolder
And the temperature drops down low
All the birds in flight
Soar by day and night
South to sunny Mexico.
(Some do, let’s not argue).
Up in Buffalo
Where there’s lots of snow
And the lake effect is chillin’
You can freeze your toes
When that cold wind blows
Even if your toes are not so willin’.
In Californ-i-a
Near the Frisco bay
When the rains begin to pour
You can take a ride
On a muddy slide
All the way to the ocean’s shore.
In New Mexico
Where the pace is slow
And the land is dry and sandy
You can hunker down
In a lonely town
Just be sure your tequila’s handy.
In the state of Maine
You can go insane
In search of a place that’s warm
It’s so freakin’ cold
Or so I’m told
Winter’s one continuous storm.
In Hawaii’s isles
Where there’s lots of smiles
And the girls all dance the hula
With a lei and a kiss
From a pretty young miss
Aloha! Just bring lots of moola.
But when the snow starts flyin’
That’s when I start sighin’
While stirring a Marguerita
All my days are sunny
They’re like milk and honey
In Florida things are just a little sweeta.
My skies are balmy
And my trees are palmy
And the golf course is lush and green
Where I’m the man
With a year round tan
And I’m lookin’ so lean and mean.
I’ll be thinkin’ of ya’ll
Huddled in the mall
Lookin’ for anything warm to cheer
Here’s a toast from the one
Havin’ all the fun
Another day in paradise is here.
Still, I miss the sight
Of a snowball fight
And all those cheeks so red and rosey
Gliding down the hill
Just like Jack and Jill
And those nights so comfy cozy.
Snuggled by the fire
Where I never tire
Of lots of kisses mixed with brandy
On a bearskin rug
With a wink and a hug
