That Cat
When I look into your eyes, I marvel at your gaze
How those buggy little peepers leave me bewildered in a daze
You seem to know just what you want
And how to get it every time
You move me to a spot where
I’ve another hill to climb.
What drives those cunning eyeballs, what mystery lies in wait?
One of us is cornered, one knows the other’s fate
To the victor go the spoils
The vanquished gets the crumbs
Those daunting eyes keep telling me
Give in you will succumb.
But I’m the master of my fate, the captain of my soul
I’m steeped in human logic, you’re a furry little troll
You haven’t got a chance
Against the power of my brain
So why do you still look at me
As if I’ve gone insane?
There’s a chief executive for everything that’s all that you require
I call the shots and you my friend are in my line of fire
She replied with deadly silence
Not a purr from her was heard
Just a wiggle of her tail
Like she was flipping me the bird.
With that I lunged and found myself laying flat upon the floor
I tore my shirt and whacked my nose and other parts were sore
Where was that furry little cat
How could she move so fast?
High overhead I swore she said
I think you’ve been miscast.
Meow.
but now, Edward, you delivered a poem causing lighthearted
laughter and amusement, guarantee to make everybody giggle.
Music, Laughter and Nature...only escape from the misery
of life. Miaow (Thank you).
PS. This cat is going to write a "Propedeutic of Zen".
Keep an eye on her!
