When you're down on your luck
don't forget to duck

Les Misérables Uncorked
You think you know miserable?
You don’t know miserable.
I’m gonna tell you about miserable—
Miserable is when you have 10
Steel rods stuffed up one nostril
And 10 more up the other one
Just to balance out the misery.
No sense in letting one
Olfactory canal cool down
In the ebb and flow
Of phlegm and phlagm.
A deviated septum
Was the cause of it all
Unless you factor in that left hook
The one that made me fall.
Or it might have been
Lack of a hearing aid
I heard “stand up” though they say it was “shut up”
That’s when I got way-laid.
A lightening strike god it was fast
Nailed me smack on my big ol’ schnoz
Didn’t know whether or if I was
Somewhere in the land of Oz.
And to top it all
Right before the fall
I heard that wee voice say
“Next time mister you’ll hear from my sister”
Then she just walked away.
I wonder how much of this "misery" was a result of your own stupidity. On the other hand, the steel rods sound like exquisite torture. Then again, you could have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
As far as the poem goes… You most elegantly got your point across.

Best regards,

I enjoyed this whimsey and the spirit it's written in.
