When Love Means Letting Go

Life is not always about following medical advice
Or studying patterns of eating and sleeping
Or believing that others always know best.
There are times when it is wise to say “no”
To others’ expectations or to their advice--
Books and journals cannot teach beyond their reach.

We each must cross our own final line
That ends our journey through life
And once crossed there is no turning back
To see who is watching or where there is relief.
Allow us the dignity to know when we are ready
Without relying on pills or a timetable that cannot
Measure the depth of our travels.

Sometimes it can be more comforting to chat with a stranger
Than to listen to lots of chatter about 
New discoveries with potential.
There is enough wisdom behind our belief systems
To know that we must travel that last mile alone
Without guidance or companionship.

Life is short by any metric except for one that is hectic.
The ultimate trust is that our Creator will see us through.
Truth is the ultimate test of who we are
That leads us from one domain to another
It is enlightenment based on progress
and progress based on effort.

Nothing is free
Not to you and
Not to me.
