Crazy Thoughts towards the End…

…Towards the end of what?
Therein resides the question.

We are all heading out of town
In a hint of velvety downy gown
We have no voice
In this life’s choice
Unless we choose
To gamble and lose
We cannot stay
We must not sway
We are but pawns
Like gnomes on the lawns
But hear me for a moment friend
I know I am nearing the end
I feel increasingly uneasy here
Every day I feel and hear fear near
I know that if I could let go
I might be allowed to go with the flow
Of late things seem more than a bit out of the groove
Perhaps that is why I’d consider the move
I could live just about anywhere
It would still be more than I feel I can bear
No, seriously things are just not right
It gives me a moment’s ease to think it’s all about might or perhaps night
I love the one and avoid the other
It is true that I truly miss my mother
I ought to accept my fate and wait
As I struggle with this mental state
I feel increasingly alone
Perhaps like a dog without a bone

A glimpse. Perhaps this Moen faucet of a fear serendipity going awry, could pause for a moment...and tales of even deeper mystery be established. I am just saying you are on the verge of something, like on the tip of a precipice but too afraid of falling to enjoy the view. Kind of like life, we do not want the ride to end. Good writing of inner thoughts. I love your wisdom and insight. Loneliness always brings fear. Reaching out to others at times also brings fear. But, wow, making strong, deep connections will empower us on, taking away the fear and replacing it with love and trust.

May you experience peace, my friend!

Hope this is a poetic device, dear one. Never feel alone. That's how darkness gathers around our hearts and minds, making us feel that we're totally on our own when actually we're all in the same boat!! It's perhaps more easy to comment on this piece in the light of Mandela's death, ironically. If ever there was inspiration from a soul who shone IN SPITE OF SPENDING ALMOST 30 YEARS IN ISOLATION AND BEHIND BARS then he is it. Regis, the world might be in deep shit (as it undoubtedly is), but, like those with their backs jointly against the wall, we can help change things one life at a time. And it starts with a smile - honestly - and yours if just so great! Please?! Think how Mother Teresa was taunted with her work being spoken of as if 'a drop in the ocean'. Her retort? "But the ocean is made up of many drops". The world is just us - and people power is very real when it calls for change. Knowing just which root to lay the axe to next is the challenge... Love you... Seriously, someone is waiting for that smile!! :) Kate xx

If you are able to look up at the sun rather than being face up on the underside of the grass, it is a very good day my friend. So many unpleasant events occurring across the globe these days with instant access to every knotty detail. Feeling a bit blue, it is certainly understandable. My adopted mantra as I have filled the calendar with spent days is, cheer up, it gets worse. May peace and love be always with you my dear friend. Jon Michael

Dear Regis,

Twenty years ago My GOAL in life was to find a REAL person. One whom I could TRUST. Well, first I HAD to be a REAL person and trust that I could be true myself and to another even when no one was around. I finally reached that goal - but it was NOT *!!! easy.

My search through life was to find REAL MEN of God. Not bull shit artist and TV preachers. I wanted to REALLY find men who would GIVE THERE LIFE for what they believe in and yes, I have found a few. That's who I hang out with these days.

I used to hang with the dopers and I became a dope. Now I am hanging out with the Holy Hopeful Happy Folks that Get HIGH praying and talking to Jesus and getting high in another way. Awesome!

Last year I wound up in the hospital for a week. I was bit by a Brown Recluse on my chest and it could have been fatal. However, I had a ball witnessing to everyone in my sight and truly was prepared to die and meet my Maker. For the FIRST time in my life I was not afraid to face death head on because I had become what I wanted to see in other men. I had become REAL and TRUE to myself and I was finally at peace.

It's PURE JOY to think of everlasting life because now I GET IT.

We ARE the company we keep.

We become the company we keep.

What we sow IS what we so reap.

My dear friend, may you go in peace this Thanksgiving and Christmas and find your ultimate goal in life. It's a journey well worth taking.

Love, peace, and REAL abundant Blessings,

John Michael Domino

Regis,
Someone said a long time ago, if we didn't have the valleys we would not know the hills. I too have been through times like these and hope springs forth when we keep faith.
I enjoy your beautiful poetry and like how you make us feel your joy and pain. It lets us know we have real feelings and that without bad there's not good. It is a balance of nature and sometimes it seems there is more bad than good.
I like the verse in scripture that tells me that Christ took care of it all...John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

Peace be with you and know I am with you too. Think of the beautiful gift you have in writing and touching us all with your words, don't lose sight of that my friend!

Hugs to you..do you feel them? That's what my youngest daughter said to me at 3..do you feel my love go through you mommy?

We have always been creatures of habit and old habits are hard to break but we also have that restless syndrome of becoming a rolling stone so we do not gather any moss. Yes, sometimes change is needed but we must ask if we are not trying to run away from something too...because, wherever we go, we are still there.

Yeah. It seems that the easier life gets, the harder it is to accept. I think this may be an innate mooring, for humans definitely wormed their way through many a species exterminating environment before incremental improvements to safety and comfort led to such lives of relative ease. We owe our ancestors a great debt of gratitude that through their epic struggles we are left with such a wonderful heritage.

I have often made the point in these pages that ours is at the same time, both a tentative and a miraculous existence. Think of the things that could have happened to interrupt the seemingly infinite chain of conceptions that led to each of our individual existences. Life is truly a gift, my friend. Relish it as long as there is any possibility of joy remaining -- and most likely there is an abundance of such.

And thank you for your powerful expressions in this poem. Reminds me of W. C. Bryant's Thanatopsis.

Best regards,
Leland

I do not share those thoughts, although many around me do, perhaps because we are bombarded daily with the worst that is happening in society and not the best, because the best is often just boring and not as exciting as the worst.

You may also be suffering from reading too many of your sibling's articles and finding that you are unable to reach the state of freedom required within. ;-)

Picture this. It is 10,000 years ago and you are living in a place called British Columbia, unnamed at that time, but filled with dangers like woolly mammoths, saber tooth tigers, dire wolves, and the ordinary grizzlies, wolves, moose, elk and their ilk. Regardless of the weather, you have to put on your heavy clothing in midwinter and go out and hunt these dangerous creatures to provide enough fat for you to live to about 30 and have about 15 children over half of which died at childbirth along with two of your 13-year-old wives.

What me worry? I wouldn't go back to the good old days where I wouldn't worry, would you?

I am so in tune with your excellent, well written and well thought out post! Where to go IS the question. Many I know have talked about moving to foreign countries and we have looked into several of them ourselves. The political climate in our country is dismal, dismal, dismal. You are not alone in these thoughts, Regis. Many agree with you as I do. unfortunately, many live in ignorant bliss also. You/we/I will ponder these thoughts and ultimately find the answer that is right for each of us. Hang in there, my friend and do LOTS of research on other places to live outside of this country.
