The Grim Reaper is the only thing that is 100% certain in our lives...Note: Paying Taxes is not a 100% surety for every human but the Grim Reaper's visit is.....

Poem Artwork

He's tall, dark and loathsome

I'm sick, bald, skinny and lonesome

The robe he wears is dark, nasty and disguises his old brittle bones

My insides are worn, bruised, battered and are constantly in the highest pain zones

His relentless chase, peering, peeking, watching and waiting

Using my brain, legs, wit, love of life I weave, duck, dodge, roll, pray and 24/7 always negotiating

This scythe holding, war hero taking, beloved family member/friend thief is a true coward

I will fight the fight of disease, accidents, life and whatever else this son of a bitch throws down

The Grim Reaper's Scythe is meant to be fought until we decide when we are finally ready to be six feet under ground

I love how you worded the intense battle against the Grim Reaper, the one thing that bothered me is when I read through this, was the ‘lonesome’ part in the first sentence. I feel as though maybe you could have added a sentence supporting that part of your battle. Other than that, it was perfect, it appealed to my hopeful emotions at the end of the poem. There was amazing descriptive imagery, and left little to imagination.

Defiantly true. We are all winning until that last day when we lose.

But you forgot the other certainty… Taxes. ;-)

Stabbing Pencey Boudreaux by Mary Lynn Plaisance

A poignant story about letting go of a narcissist in your life. Have you ever been attacked FULL force by a narcissist? It's the closest thing to being stabbed over and over in the back.
