Dedicated by the poetess to those people who tried to bring her down and destroy her, I dared to venture forth on her defiant journey despite not being one of those people.
Wielding her poison pen, Van Leerdam has inked 27 poems in this dark, defiant collection. An excerpt from the first poem, aptly titled, “A Poet’s Curse,” offers an “inkling” of what is in store:
May you ever be friendless and loveless,
And be mourned not on the day that you die.
Every poem emanating from the depth of this poet’s soul tills a rich compost of injustices: anguish of betrayal, broken trust, backstabbing, arrogance, misperception, deceit, lies, jealousy, vainglory, blame throwing, self-absorption, rudeness, cruelty, manipulation, unforgiveness, petty accusations…
Vulnerability and susceptibility assuaged by the strokes of a homicidal pen, jab each and every “vile, repugnant, filthy worm”!
