The About the Author epilogue in Anna Casamento Arigo’s brightly illustrated and Hunter-driven story teaches a valuable lesson about acceptance. While oriented to the 5-9 year-old age bracket, adults are never too old for the reminder of viewing the diverse population of humanity with respect and understanding.
Hunter learns a new word in the classroom—diversity. He demonstrates his understanding of “the same but different” concept by sharing his observations of flowers, cars, and the two children he meets during an outing with his mom.
Whether the story is read aloud by a parent, or read independently by a child, the value-based lesson of accepting differences is fundamental. I highly recommend this storybook.
