A Tour de Force
Just as I deem ‘Lost in the Fog’ a tour de force of a story, author Terry Kerr, is a tour de force of a writer. A storyteller of the highest caliber, he wields words in such a way as to fuse the reader to his protagonist’s soul. In this novel, it’s Andrew Walsh. Through his eyes and gut instincts, Leanne Howard. Polar opposites do indeed attract.
A shout-out to Sausage!
The backdrop of the Great Orme, a limestone peninsula jutting out from the sea along the coast of Wales, becomes the source of unrelenting fogs that claim lives. Henceforth, the story interweaves present-day reality with the Ago via an ancient, Celtic myth pitting Chaos against Calm. The reader is held in the Anhrefnau’s claws as Andrew wrestles with the implausible and comes to grip with his identity in more ways than one.
For any potential reader heeding my praise to acquire this masterpiece, you too, will get caught up in the dynamics of the Anhrefnau and Dawelach. How the final confrontation plays out, took me by surprise.
This great book beckons the reader to come into its fold, just as the Great Orme beckoned Andrew to “come home”.
