Author Lilly Adam’s Victorian saga, ‘Eaton Rise Manor,’ exemplifies the crème de la crème of novels set in the Victorian era.
Adam's lifelike characters are seamlessly interwoven by their fate: Sarah and Charles Plumpton, their daughters Anne and Bethany, Lewis Westbridge, Ambrose Berry, Isla Frazer, Edith and Edgar Brinsworth, Robert Haines, and Thomas Parsons.
This well-written saga, replete with period dialect and descriptive delineations between the wealthy and destitute, serves as a background for all of the turmoil the reader encounters.
While secrets, deception, cruelty, struggles, and sadness abound, turnabout is fair play.
I highly recommend this heartrending saga whose plot twists and turns thicken like a rich piece of sweet cake baked at Eaton Rise Manor.
