A Story with Good Bones
Like lifer Marcus Webb’s old, forlorn family hone gifted to his dear Elliot Reynolds, this story has good bones, courtesy of author Ari Burton’s formidable ability to tell a heartwrenching story with depth. A story whose foundation is honed by Marcus and Elliot’s exchanges by letter, phone, and prison visits, the reader becomes privy to their overlapping pain and suffering which Elliot allegorically aligns with the parameters of the Grimm fairy tale, “Rapunzel”.
The author vividly and viscerally depicts the strong romantic bond that develops between a reporter and serial killer with all the psychological baggage and physical trauma it entails. Yet, these two compatible individuals move forward despite circumstances.
The story’s nongratuitous disturbing imagery serves its purpose in exposing old hurts, shame, doubt, and regrets. Burton’s MM Romantic Suspense Thriller, ‘Dear Elliot,’ is a raw slice of life worth delving into.
