Why must war be inevitable, even as Israel and Palestine come to a peaceful agreement? Ler us hope by luck this peace lasts. (photo Al Jazeera)
Wars, domestic violence, terrorism and a Democratic body being urged to fight, to hate, to disregard our natural instinct to live is now a pandemic of fear. Next stop for peace: Ukraine.

Welcoming Life Back

Can we ever rekindle loss of life
That enigmatic effervescent glow of matter
Housed in a sentient mass
Where hearts and minds
See
Hear
Feel
Vibrations lesser life knows not of

Oh how sweet the breath of life
The in and out of sensorial perceptions
Each with its own personal footprint
Its own personal destiny

To lose that life
To remove that vibration
Moving about to learn
Intuit
Aspire
Learning of love

One can only send caring oscillations
So many strangers
Yet one
So many parents
Yet community
So many brothers and sisters
Yet...
Yet...

Such bewilderment we face

Such heart crushing introspection needed

To heal
To globally become aware that
Hearts and minds often need help
Even as we often forget to...

Ukrainians Enduring Life

The body,

once lit like a lantern in fog, now dimmed,

its glow folded into memory.

We walk among silhouettes,

each pulse a whisper of what once shimmered in the marrow of knowing.

Breath is not just air,

it is the tide that carries thought to shore,

the hush between heartbeats where a child’s laughter

once nested like a bird in the ribs of time.

To sever that vibration,

to stifle the current that seeks love,

is to silence Life’s symphony mid-note,

leaving the violins suspended in a room that has forgotten living is music.

Peace of mind sends out waves,

not of sound,

but of presence,

hoping the consciousness reaches the aching minds

sitting quietly behind bright eyes,

waiting for something that will keep the lantern alight,

even as so many misguided efforts stagger the flame,

bending the light to a burial of loss

where death hastens mortality into an abyss of darkness.

Masterful thoughts made palpable by a mind like no other.

Let's face it, war is brutal, unkind and immoral. Yet it has been glorified down through history by the winners who wrote the history, while the losers just died – whole vibrant communities completely disappeared. Except for occasional archaeological finds, that they existed.

It can be argued that war is necessary to keep the population from growing beyond the Earth's means to sustain it. But modern wars and diseases, do not cut the population like simple desire not to have children. Something that is happening in the cities, but not in the countryside.

Let us hope, like your article suggests, that the struggle between Muslim and Jewish religions will not continue in a secular world of business and trade. And that the world will wake up and punish Russia for attempting to take Ukraine and try to create the Soviet Union again. It serves Russia people nothing to be at war with Ukraine except suffering.
