Fatuous Beyond Absurdity
Fatuous minds will once again
Promulgate denial in the halls of the UN
As a near-pathological love for smiling and joking
Through the planet's crisis of wind, heat and flood
Runs the clock down to the unfinished line.
Yet, for the country family
With smarts borne out of experience,
One might overhear…
“Prime colors are a-fadin’
On our special painted flats.
City and country abodes alike
Tastin’ hell about now.
“Gotta prop’em up
Blistering wind and heat
Seems to be lovin’ it
Shakin’ and scorchin’ ignorance about,
Big time.

Patiently watchin’ wind and water disappear.
“But for now, Martha,
Better hold down that apple tree,
It’s gettin’ crazy-like,
Apples flyin’ every which way.

Just holdin’ tight the hen house
Can’t save the tin roof though,
Chickens losin’ feathers,
Gonna be bald soon,
Roosters ain’t gonna like that.

“Feels like everythin’s
About to blow away.

As long as the Middle East has a grip on fossil fuel production pricing, the idiots will prevail until it's too late. They already live in a desert, have ample wind and solar power, as well as desalianation plants available for their water. Many will buy whatever they need to survive their high lifestyles. While billionaires elsewhere may find it very hard, even with money, to survive very long after all of the simple people on the land are gone.
Too much rhetoric into little action too long.
