Will Islam listen to President Obama? 6/9/2009 5:13:14 AM
Ayatollah Khamenei, said "The nations of this part of the world deeply hate America. Even if they give sweet and beautiful speeches to the Muslim nation that will not create change. Action is needed." So with Iran's elections coming up do the people want change with a slow but harmonious built relationship with the West or do they still want to perservere with their nuclear programme, anti-Israel and breeder of terrorist activities?
David Axelrod a Senior Advisor to the President,sent in an email: I'm here in Cairo, Egypt where I watched President Obama deliver an unprecedented speech calling for a new beginning for the United States and Muslim communities around the world.
We all know that there has been tension between the United States and some Muslim communities. But, as the President said this morning, if all sides face the sources of tension squarely and focus on mutual interests, we can find a new way forward.
The President outlined some big goals for this new beginning in his speech -- including disrupting, dismantling, and defeating violent extremism. It was a historic speech, and since many Americans were asleep at the time it was given we wanted to make sure you had a chance to see it:
Majority-Muslim countries around the world are filled with extraordinary people who simply want to live their lives and see their children live better lives, just as in America. Indeed, part of what makes America great is having nearly seven million Muslim Americans living here today and enriching our culture and communities.
We can extend that kind of relationship abroad. It won't always be easy, but if we make an effort to bridge our differences rather than resigning ourselves to animosity, we can move toward a more peaceful world over time.

The elections will determine if the feared President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who sends his supporters wild with words of fighting the opressors of this world and they chant back, "Death to America, death to Britain."
Or wheter the opposition party led by the former Prime -Minister Dr. Mousavi who wants to make friends with the west and wants Iran to be players in the international market. His supporters are young, and alot of them are women as Mousavi wants reforms and rights for women of Iran.
But power and control is held by the Ayatollah and he dictates foreign policy...So can Dr. Mousavi win and if he does will the Ayatollah allow a different and closer relationship with the west?
