Just seen a photo of people who can't get medical care in the US, looks more like a scene from a terrorist attack.. In a huge stadium hundreds of patients are crammed into temporary health facility and seen on a mass treatment scale, with thousands queueing outside...If you saw it on the news you would think it was in Zimbabwe, Pakistan or even China and you would be outraged and sad for those people.
But this is Inglewood, Los Angeles where Americans, yes fellow country men, women and children anxiously wait to see doctors, dentists, optometrists and nurses who do this work voluntarily.
It is said there are an estimated 47 million people who cannot afford medical insurance and therefore no access to basic medical care.
With a limit of 1500 patients a day, they will see around ten thousand people before they move on. The forum is filled with patients receiving blood pressure checks, sight tests, mammograms, dental work, pain relief, smear tests and TB jabs.
One volunteer recalled the 1970's show about the war in vietnam, and said "It's like a scene from M.A.S.H"
So these right-wing politicians, news channels who have launched savage attacks on Britains NHS...just step back and have a think a moment..
Is your health care a system for the 'have' and 'have-not', like N.Korea and S.Korea or should it be available to all? Just think if YOU and your family were apart of those 47 million through no fault of your own would you want the health care reform?
