World Attention Forgotten Zimbabwe?.. 8/4/2009 4:35:20 AM
After the recent Presidential elections, will Zimbabwe get rule of law or still a reign of anarchy? It has been thirty years since Mugabe took over the once beautiful and prosperous Rhodesia and became independent and re-named Zimbabwe..where several million are starving and the country has been brought to its knees!
So what has happened since the power sharing of the ZANU-PF and MDC? Do we see the change that people voiced, for jobs, prosperity and trade...
If you go to the capital Harare, you will still find no jobs, food or fuel..but you will see visible signs of great wealth in property of Mugabe's inner circle.
So how does Mugabe survive and pay his Generals and thugs to keep in power?
A British mining company called CAMEC, whose chairman is former England cricket player Phil Edmonds struck a deal with Mugabe to mine platinum.
They transferred the deal to a holding company called TODAL and a controlling 60% stake worth 200 million dollars. A 100 million dollar loan was given to Mugabe with no repayment date, now with the money he can continue his reign of terror, with people beaten, killed or simply disappeared.
Who brokered the deal, a Conrad Rautenbach who is wanted by Interpol for fraud.
So has anything change? No, thugs wielding machette's terrorize workers off the farms and won't let them work.. then they try to intimidate, threaten and use violence to scare the white farmers from their land..
A country that is fertile and rich in produce and wildlife for tourism is left to rot.
Power and corruption is still on a large scale, imprisonment and torture still a common occurance..
So is not the time the west acted and removed this evil regime...round up Mugabe and his cohorts and put them on trial? Because as usual the innocent always suffer and sanctions don't always work especially when you have greedy business men in the background who only care about money. What do you think?
