Are all Tea Party members racist? 3/29/2010 5:26:29 AM
When you have absolutely no argument to advance, what’s the easiest thing to do? Denounce your opponents as racist;
Tea Party members, as with their forerunners who showed up at the University of Alabama and Central High School, behave as they do because they have been culturally conditioned to believe they are entitled to do whatever they want, and to whomever they want, because they are the “real Americans,” while all who don’t think or look like them are not…Hence, an explanation for the familiarity of faces: today’s Tea Party adherents are George Wallace legacies. They, like Wallace’s followers, smolder with anger. They fear they are being driven from their rightful place in America. They see the world through the eyes of the anti-civil rights alumni.
The trouble with playing the racism card is that is an attempt to stifle dissent – what you are saying is illegitimate because your real rationale is that you hate blacks. Understandably, it drives people crazy. And just who is being racist by looking at a predominantly white crowd and leaping to the conclusion that they are all motivated by racial hatred?
In the past week, the Left has seriously overplayed its hand. The accusations of a wave of dangerous violence against pro-health care Democrats have been wildly overblown, as James Taranto skillfully debunks here;
'Most will see it as a clumsy attempt to marinalise opposition.'
And Sarah Palin is inciting violence by putting out a map which has crosshairs on targeted Democratic districts? Give. Me. A. Break. Can anyone name a Democratic or Republican political operative who does not talk in martial metaphors?
On his campaign plane, I recall Obama saying something at one point about Hillary Clinton trying to drive a stake through his heart. Was he accusing her of wanting to murder him? Nope, I don’t think so either.
Despite all the Washington chatter about Zeitgeists and paradigms shifting the majority of Americans remain opposed to the new health care law and want to repell it.
Oh, and as Glenn Beck says 'No one can give a single or sensible argument to opponents of Obama’s health care reform.'
Maybe the 'Tea Party' should become a Political Independent party. Maybe Sarah Palin would take up the leadership?...
