A TAKE ON HEALTH CARE UK 10/1/2009 6:34:50 AM
Here is what has happend to me and how our healthcare system has worked. In feb. 2008 I felt really ill one day. I had gone to my care job as usual, but that morning I stepped out of the car and it was like for a moment I could not move. Some years ago I had done my back in and it felt similar, so I decided I would head to my work place office a short distance. I went sick that day, returned the following week, no pain just done in.
As the weeks rolled on I went to my doctor as I felt the same, I was sent to the hospital for an ECG. There I was told I that I have had a heart attack. I was reffered to a cardiology unit at another hospital where weeks later they gave me various tests, then they gave me a treadmill test. My BP hit the roof and they suspected I had arturiary problems, so a few months later an angigram was done.
To cut a long story into a short one. Today I was at the hospital to monitor my breathing with some advanced machines. During that time I have had nuerous appointments, I retired earlier and glad I did.
Whatever you hear about the UK health care system, it does work, no one pays, for treatment or medication, and anyone over 60 is exempt from medicine charges.
It is a system that does work, of course there are instances where it seems to have failed, often due to human errors. Wealth is not an essential to health.
