IS IT REALLY ALL THOSE YEARS AGO? 9/22/2009 6:17:37 AM
Reflections on our 45 years of marriage. It seems like only a few days ago, the memories are so crisp and still running in 'real-time'. However it was 45 years ago. We eloped to Scotland to marry, thats another story in a book thats been running for as many years. It was 10 am in the morning, a Monday 22 September 1964, Aberdeen registry office. Some distant relatives came. By 12 midday we on the train home heading back to London. We had been in Scvotland for three weeks to meet their legal requirements, to register a marriage.
The Beatles had been around a little over a year, we had seen them nine months ago in concert in London.
A couple of teenagers in love, and right in the middle of the 60's.
The following year we saw The Beatles agin in concert. we also saw The Rolling Stones, Mahalia Jackson, The Everly Brothers. Met Paul McCartney outside his St.Johns Wood home. Met Sonny and Cher at The Royal Garden Hotel in London.
In November 1965 our first child was born, a girl.
My how all those things turn like a giant wheel. Now we see our grandchildren.
But as the wheel of life may have turned, our love for each other has grown. Why? I think a lot has to do with your gut determination to never let anything erode that love. Oh you make mistakes, you have your disagrements, but you also have your joys. Do not let the sun go down with you in a proked state, the Bible councels. So sort it out, and we have. We trust each other, always are honest, and I would never raise myself above my friend and partner, my equal.
I suspect I am a pain in certain places at times, like to disappear and write, switch off and avoid conversations at those times.
I have a wish and it involves God, so here it goes.....
Dear God, pleas sort this world out sooner than later, I understand the reasons, that all may gain to repentance before the end, but its dam hard being a caring person in a sick world. Kids out there are dying, haven't done anything, I have and enjoyed many things, they have not and some will not. Please God make it sooner than later.
