Well, you heard it here first! After two glorious months, May and June, as soon as July started, just as if someone up there knows time and date, the Atlantic low pressure areas win their fight with the European highs and down comes the rain. We have hardly had one day without, and even those when rain didn't actually fall were dull and chilly and miserable. August will probably not be a lot better, but I predict that it will all settle down again in September and we shall have a lovely, colourful autumn (fall). So take my word for it, if you are thinking of travelling to SW Scotland (and I do hope that some of you are), avoid July and August. Galloway is still beautiful in the rain, vivid greens vie with the electric pink of rosebay and foxglove along our lanes at the moment, but unless you like the rainy weather (which I do, once the grass is done and I know I'm odd!) then Spring or Autumn is the time for you. Mind you, it won't be long now till we see the fist signs of Autumn's approach, in fact, the swallows are already gathering on the telephone wires. They have had two broods and there will be about fifty returning to Africa from our six pairs. And I bet the rowan berries in the Warwick garden are fully ripe when I go back on the 31st. They are still quite green here, at the moment, but I see quite a difference in the seasons between my two homes.
Now, I know that plenty of you are reading my articles and blogs, as we can see how many times each piece is clicked on (although not who is doing the clicking). My stats are up in the hundreds every week, but hardly a single body has ever commented or sent me a message. I wish I knew why. I'm not an ogress, I love to connect with people, I accept everybody for who they are not what they are, and yet there is something blocking our two way! Someone told me I am on the wrong website and should have a blog on a proper dedicated blog site, but Author's Den is so easy for someone who hasn't kept up with IT since I left teaching, (and let's face it, things move on every second in this game, let alone every week, or every month). So please, let me know what's wrong!
