As I look at my surroundings.....
I am touched by all of the beauty around me.
I am taking a short break from a very hectic day of decorating, baking and cooking...as we have every year for as long as I can remember...had our family's annual Christmas Eve Open House Extravaganza. Or to simplify...my son and I invite everyone and their brother who may not have plans for this glorious evening to share it with us. It is a wonderful night filled good food, friendship, warmth and most importantly laughter and lot's of it.
It is clearly my favorite day of the entire year and although it is a lot of work...I look forward to it every year. It was the only family tradition that my son meekly asked if we could please continue after a much unanticipated divorce...mine, not his. How could I turn down such a plea? This child's entire life had just been ripped apart and all he could think was...I hope we can still pull off Christmas Eve. He IS a true joy to me and OF COURSE I have made sure that every year this tradition is carefully included in my holiday budget.
I gaze around my home...my very own home, the only house that I have ever owned on my own..I can FEEL the warmth and love here...more than any other place that I have lived, as an adult. It is the coziest place that I have ever called home and I am forever grateful to have it.
So, during this Christmas Season, I am very grateful for all that has been bestowed upon me and I hope that others feel the warmth, love and magic of this season as well.
