I changed the book signing poster to reflect the Thunder Mountain Harley-Davidson book signing next Saturday and drove it up to Fort Collins for them to display. They bought 36 books for the book signing and then questioned me if that was enough. They put the poster and the books at the front counter and they sold two books before I left the building. While my first book signing had the luxury of show and tell with my Harley in the mall, this little trick could not be used at the Harley Dealer next week. The attendees at this book signing all ride Harleys and would not be impressed by my 1200 Sporty. They did say that my wind-chill card was a big hit and they wanted more. I gave them about 300 more cards and they were handing them out to everybody. My connection to Thunder Mountain is that is where I bought my Harley and took my riders safety course which is woven into the story of the book.
This will be my last book signing as I feel I can creatively produce some PR and send it somewhere on the Internet to have more of an impact. There is this chain of circumstances similar to the 6 degrees of separation whereby the book is bought by one person who tells another etc and the sales seem to pop up in a cosmic connection that is spreading by itself. I love how that works. I want to know that the book has it's own legs and is starting to run by itself. Then I can finish the 2nd book which I am dying to get back to - especially since I have already outlined the 3rd book.
