This is journal about my long life. Journal of Ninety Years
The good Lord has let me live a long time. Ninety years is a long time, but when I look back on the years, it seems my life went by too quickly. I didn’t get to do a lot of things I dreamed about, but I did accomplish a few things in my short life.
My favorite things in life are not really things, but people. Of course my dear husband of 66 tears heads the list. Together we produced three wonderful children who have all grown to be excellent care-giving people, three people who treat their old mother like a queen, and none of whom I’ve ever been sorry to claim as mine. They mean the world to me, and as along as they live, I will still have my husband, Orman because they all inherited his fun-loving, people-caring ways. I feel we raised them to be self-efficient to carry on their lives without us once we are gone.
My next important possession in life is the right to live in America, where we can worship as we wish and do the kind of work we like. I felt it a huge privilege to belong to the Women’s Army Corps for three years in World War II, and to help win the war that was supposed to end all wars. Of course that wasn’t successful in stopping all the later wars but I felt a part of this great country to be able to help out.
What I have accomplished in my life wouldn’t make a long story, but I have done a few things I am proud of. I started my own business called Em’s Machine Embroidery when we lived in Colorado. I launched into a lucrative little business until we retired to travel around the United States. Later in life, Orman and I opened a sign business in Eugene, Oregon which became quite successful until my heart attach took us out of that. After my heart attach, I started my writing career which has ended with three books published.
About the same time I started writing, I I started Em’s Needlecraft Designs where I designed, made and marketed my designs for publication with crochet, Knitting, tatting and plastic canvas.
In the three books I had published, two of them told of my memoirs, while the third book included poetry and other inspirations. According to my fan mail, many have enjoyed my writing, although none of them became best-sellers.
In my ninety short years, I have done so many interesting things. I hope I can leave a little wisdom, a little humor and a small part of my experiences for others to enjoy.
