The Jargon on Bargain

Choices were cold cash in hand or to take a gamble and choose unknown items behind some numbered door or curtain, possibly of greater value. The end results, excited game players made a deal to get the best prize available.

Bargaining is the stage when a deal is made with someone. It can occur before the situation or later. It can be made with God. Lord, get me through this and I will… (whatever promise you make). Or, it can be made with yourself, or someone else. Again, the end results to receive the “prize” you are requesting.

I was an eager grandmother jumping up and down wanting the best for my grandchild, but secretly wanting my life to remain the same. Before my grandchild actually came to my home, I bargained with God. Vowing if I sent more money to assist with my son’s bills and made frequent phone calls of counseling and listening to his problems, things would miraculously become better. The problem with that deal, I was willing, and God was listening, but the “other” parties involved had their focus on doing their thing.

My next deal was with myself. After my sweet grand came to live with me, I hoped if I provided all things necessary and more and become super granny my son would change and everything would be okay. I was making deals while in denial—shooting two for two.

Deal or No Deal is another game show. Where you can have thousands of dollars and take large chances for a million dollars.

Life is about many gambles. I had a choice where my grandchild would live. I could have left her in the unstable environment and prayed for the best. Or,she could have lived with her stepmother who would have welcomed her with opened, loving arms. The truth is, I wanted her to be with me, to be a part of my life. I wanted to play an active role in her life, giving her a moral foundation, sprinkling her with words of wisdom and performing the works God has directed me to do. I refused to gamble my grandchild’s life away because there will never be a better deal if her life is not the way God planned it.

In the game show Deal or No Deal, I would shout “No Deal.” My grandchild is the grand prize I could ever receive.

Have you made any deals? Are you making deals while in denial? What is your jargon on bargain?
