An empty Monday 5/6/2013 7:53:22 AM
Here I sit...starring...starring... Tapping at this key and then that key to try to find some inspiration as words form across this screen. Is my muse here? Can I hit the Enter key and suddenly be overwhelmed with words and emotions that I must share? Television is on in the background and it's nothing more than noise in an even noisier world. Drama.
I used to be able to sit down and pour out words that could drive anyone to tears. Now, a great wall has formed in my brain and shielding my muse and my emotions from the world and from myself.
Maybe if I sit here just long enough and type just the right combination of keystrokes, something masterful will form. Maybe I'll be able to stir the murky and still waters of emotion again.
Traffic is rambling by just outside of my window. The rain must have halted. I no longer hear the soft and stead mini waterfalls as tires glide through puddled asphalt lanes. No swoosh of water. No muted tones of overloaded tires.
It's cold and gray for a spring day. It feels and looks more like autumn than spring.
Maybe if I pay attention to the world around me, I will notice life again. Maybe notice those small details that I had once written about. Pay attention to the various grays swirling in the sky, the brilliant green of the grass and the delicate buds of awakening trees.
It's just another empty Monday. Empty of words from a silenced poet... wishing my muse would return.
