A Poem by my daughter I wrote a poem yesterday that lamented the painful process of growing up that my daughter has gone through. While she didn't cast away all her upbringing or her morals, she tested the limits of more than one standard and learned some of her lessons the hard way.
I thank God for His faithfulness. I thank Him for the firm foundation laid in her early years that led her to trust in Christ. Her foundation has been tested--and tried--but it has not been shaken. And her faith holds fast.
Bring up your child in the way he (she) should go, the wise King said, and when he (she) is old, he will not depart from it. I don't know the theological implications of the word "old" but I do know that the Biblical book of Proverbs is a book of "probabilities" not "promises" and none of us can, with any certainty, predict the future for ourselves or any other person. I also know that the warm relationships that I and my husband have formed with our children link their heart to ours even when they stray--and our love holds true during the most difficult of times.
