HE IS THE REAL DEAL! 10/14/2008 3:38:51 AM
It finally dawned on me the amazing impact Jesus has had in our world.
I just got this book, "The Greatest Words Ever Spoken", which comprises all the Lord's statements from the Gospel; and in the introduction, author Steven Scott, talks about the impact Jesus had during his life and the time since his death. What really drew me in were the words spoken centuries ago by Napolean Bonaparte, reflecting upon the life of Jesus Christ.
He says,"Everything in Christ astonishes me. His spirit overawes me, and His will confounds me. Between Him and whoever else in the world, there is no possible term of comparison. He is truly a being by Himself. One can absolutely find nowhere, but in Him alone, the imitation or the example of his life...I search in vain in history to find the similar to Jesus Christ...Neither history, nor humanity, nor the ages, nor nature, offer me anything with which I am able to compare it or explain it. Here everything is extraordinary."
This is unbelievable. Napolean! Who would have thought would be so enamored with the life and teaching of this man Jesus. If you have any doubt about Jesus, or his existence, why then are we still talking about his life two thousand years later. Jesus only ministered in public from age 30 to 33. Against such troubling times when Jesus lived you have to wonder why his words have not been lost to generations long ago. As Steven Scott says,"How could one man's life impact humanity to a greater extent than any other person or any series of events in history?
Pretty cool stuff if you ask me. This just fortifies my faith even more!
