Time to Relax 12/23/2008 7:37:40 AM
What can you do to cultivate relaxation during the Holidays? During the hustle and bustle of the Holidays, we face scheduling challenges, stress, and fatigue. Even though I am one of those people that has been playing Christmas music non-stop since the day after Thanksgiving-I admit I feel a bit tense at times. For instance, this week I am trying to accomplish a week's worth of work in a day and a half. I know the pushing is worth it, as I will have from noon today until Dec 28 to relax and enjoy my family.
How have I coped during the push to meet my deadlines? I spent the best $10 of my life. I purchased a neck roll from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. It is scented with lavendar and chamomile. I can heat it up in the microwave or use it cold. So I have been using my heated neck roll, my herbal tea, and my treadmill to keep a clear, focused mind. In addition, I have kept up my morning ritual of lighting candles, praying, and pomegranate oil. So though I feel more pressured than normal, I am able to remain calm and peaceful (most of the time).
What can you do for yourself today to cultivate a peaceful and calm state of mind? Make sure that you do some things that will relax you. Maybe you need a massage, a pedicure, or a brisk walk in the woods. Maybe you need to snuggle in with a big, fluffy blanket and a good book for an hour or so. You will feel refreshed if you make some time for relaxation.
Thank you for spending time with me in 2008. It has been a very blessed, joyful year.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year.
