"Ya never know, do ya?"

With a writer friend's encouragement I entered the adult division, four categories, for creative writing in this year's Sharp County Fair. It made me push myself to finish the chilren's story I was working on and to try out a new poetry form I'm attempting to develop. The result?

The poetry form took a first place, the children's story a 2nd place. I learned once again that you can't win the lottery if y'all don't buy a ticket.

A 2nd in essay and a 3rd on another experimental poem spurs me on for yet another day of writing. Thank you, friend.

By the way, my friend was awarded the Grand Championship prize in creative writing for adults. An excellent example for us all!
