Nothing Succeeds Like Success

Meeting new writers is a joy.
March 22,2014 was one of those joyful times for me. Seventeen regional writers from a wide variety of genres gathered in the Round Room of Craighead County Public Library in Jonesboro, Arkansas for an Authors' Day Signing celebration.

Authors ranged in age from their 20s to it's-a-secret! Each had an opportunity to tell something about themselves and their work. In fact, the highlight for me was hearing individual authors read excerpts from their books.

It's not often one gets to hear a grandfather read children's books he has written, a college student relate his characters' romantic relationships, a paranormal story summarized by a striking young blonde woman, or listen to poetry about the beauty of The Natural State.

Yours truly read my poem, "Only Day", from the anthology Women's Voices of the 21st Century: Experiences That Shape Poetry and "On Poetry" a prose explanation regarding why I deeply enjoy writing poetry. I'm already looking forward to next year's Authors' Day in Jonesboro.
