This morning I realized it’s seven years ago that I made several decisions that have manifested incredibly for the past eighty-four months, season after season.

Decision one was to become single after forty-seven years of being married.

Decision two was to buy a house in the woods situated on an off-the-beaten- path road and a hard-to-reach section of a golf course.

Decision three was to select the midsized bedroom of this house as my study. It has two large side-by-side windows that offer me a splendiferous view of the Ozark foothills and the ancient sky above them. I can’t recall the last time I’ve used the adjective splendiferous, but I feel Mark Twain approves my choice.

Decision four was to spend countless hours of the day and night exploring my mind and spirit while recording on screen and paper, the thoughts and emotions that comfort and assail me, all the while glancing out my windows to admire the setting God has given me to let the words I write form sentences.   Splendiferous indeed.
