It's amazing how much time can go by when you're waiting for the outcome of an event. Here it's been 3 weeks or more, and what do I have to show for it? It's amazing how much time can go by when you're waiting for the outcome of an event. Here it's been 3 weeks or more, and what do I have to show for it?
- well, to start with, I didn't get the outcome I wanted with the pins and needles situation. That went to an inexperienced 25-year-old. And who says there's no age discrimination in today's society? The world is full of it. Yet within 3 or 4 years, the world of business will be begging retirees to come back...please!
- The reason for the above is because all you baby boomers out there didn't have enough children to carry on the workload the rest of us set in motion. There's no one, so to speak, coming up behind us, not in sufficient numbers to keep the world of commerce rolling merrily along.
- In addition to begging retirees to come back and offering incentives for them to do so, business will be relying more and more on a flood of immigrants, such as this nation never saw when I emigrated from Great Britain. Then, strict quotas were in place, and society absorbed us more readily.
- Besides, I'm not retired yet, nor am I ready to be put out to pasture. In fact, I'll make a grumpy old mare, if anyone decides to shove me off the roof of the world. I still have too many things to accomplish, on my schedule.
- Pins and needles resolution aside, I've been looking rather longingly at STC's 53rd Annual Conference to be held in Las Vegas May 7 - 10, 2006. For anyone interested, it'll be at Bally's Las Vegas Hotel and Paris Las Vegas Hotel. However, I've decided that it would be wiser, from the financial standpoint, to purchase the Proceedings afterward. My employer does not pay for such events, and I can't justify the expenditure under current circumstances. Private clients do not always pay promptly.
- Onward and upward. There are battles yet to win, and always windmills at which to tilt!
