I just spent half an hour creating a blog entry that vanished into thin air when I went to add it. This is not the first time that's happened at authorsden and I hope the powers that be will fix things. In the meantime, I will try to reconstruct what I wrote.
I can't believe 4 months have gone by and I haven't had time to myself to write anything creative. And now a marketing expert tells me that my blog should be focused on one topic only! I should write only about Discoveries: A Journey Through Life or at least focus only on my books, and those things that support them.
Is there anyone else out there who only writes on one topic? I can see only writing about dogs, if your life revolves around dogs. Or bowling, or video games, or growing orchids, whatever. But my writing flows out of my life and the often chaotic aspects of it.
To single out one subject would be impossible, but let me try. Cue the thinking music, please! Dah, dah, de dah. Ommmmmm. Enough. My topic is "Life as it is lived." My life revolves around my far-flung family, my church work, sometimes my creative writing these days, along with old hobbies that grow faint as butterfly's wings. These include photography, following tennis, and checking out tidepools. If I get too much further away from those pursuits, my brain will forget everything it ever knew about them.
In between those priorities, I am buffeted by a high-stress, poorly paid job in a collapsing industry. There is no way my blog is going to be restricted to one topic! But yes, please do buy Discoveries: A Journey Through Life. It's a great read! Especially for grownups who like positive, uplifting stories. Thank you very much.
