Cannot believe the holidays are upon us 11/11/2011 6:43:59 PM
Truth to tell, 2011 has been the year from hell for millions of people. How any of us have survived these stresses is a wonder. Most of us are still here and finding comfort and solace in family ties and the love of friends. Next to our love for and obedience to God, our Heavenly Father, nothing else really matters but family and friends. There are few rewards for loyalty to any other network, though it behooves us to remember the poor and the needy, for whom every act of kindness is a blessing from Above.
My heart aches for those who have lost dear family members this past year. In many cases this has happened after years of suffering that has taken a heavy toll on the caregiver. In other situations, the death has been due to a sudden, traumatic event that no one could have foreseen. Either way, there is a huge empty space in their lives.
When the time is right, may we each have the courage to open the door that has 2012 on it. And may the vista be one of hope that things will get better.
