Lefty, a squirrel I've sort of adopted. This sweet looking, furry critter (okay, a cute rodent, and yes, I think rats are cute too.:), has captured my heart. He/she doesn't live with us--this squirrel is not a pet. He/she visits my deck and eats up a storm. I couldn't help myself. I named the squirrel Lefty because his front left paw is swollen two to three times the size of the other one. Yet, he/she climbs trees, uses that paw like nothing is wrong with it, and chases away all other squirrels from food. I think Lefty is female and several of those other squirrels are Lefty's babies. Then again, could be a dad. Anyway, I make sure Lefty and all other visitors munching away on my goodies run away when I and/or our four dogs venture onto deck. My canines would love to play with them, but they wouldn't survive. The squirrels, that is. The many birds that visit us is incredible as well. I'll take a picture of them some day and place on this site. Just felt like sharing.
